Hey Rhian, could you tell me a few things about yourself?
Where do I begin… haha! I’m Rhian and I’ve put an exclamation mark at the end of my artist name as a statement. I am a singer, songwriter, and producer. I was born in sunny Trinidad but I am currently based in London UK.
What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?
I believe my ears are a very valuable asset. The ability to hear music everywhere and be inspired by whatever environment that I’m in. Whether it’s the sound of the wind or a bird chirping. Turning the feeling I receive into melodies.
What does music mean to you?
Music is my everything. I say this all the time but music has saved my life on so many occasions. I wouldn’t be here today without it.
What could you tell me about your new single, ”NO!”?
I wrote NO! to empower anyone who struggles to say no to things that don’t align with their beliefs and that includes people too haha! The song definitely has a strong message but I didn’t want it to be too serious. There is an element of playfulness and fun from start to finish in the production, writing, and in my vocal delivery.
What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?
Music is food for the soul. I live and breathe music. To touch on what I said before…Music has saved myself and I’ve have so much music in me that I want to share it with the world. If I can connect, with, help and inspire someone with my music I feel like I would fulfill my purpose.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m hoping to release at least 3 more singles this year. My next single You Got This, features Trans Voices UK. The first trans choir in the UK and I’m really excited about it.
What important message would you like to share with our readers?
I would first like to thank everyone who has supported me from the start. I’m truly grateful. Please keep on supporting independent artists, we need you. On a more personal note, I’d like anyone reading this to be kind to themselves and to each other. We have a lot more in common than we don’t. Choose love over fear.
What do you feel is the best song that you have ever released and why?
This is a tough question. I’ve written many songs but so far I’ve only released 3. I am constantly writing new material and I don’t think I’ve written my best song yet. If I had to choose, I’d say NO! It’s my most creatively produced track. There are so many cross genres I drew upon when putting the track together with my co-producer Massimo. The lyrics are strong and comical. The spoken adlibs sound like a cartoon character but it’s all me. I’m also rapping on the track and that’s a first for me. I’m really proud of this song.
