Interview with Cassandra Pinataro about ”Love You Back”

Hey Cassandra, could you tell me a few things about yourself?

I often answer this with a list of things I “do” instead of a list of things about myself, but as a means of practicing self love, I’ll change that today. I am kind, caring, and passionate about the people in my life and the art I share. I wear my heart on my sleeve and choose love first every time. I truly believe I was put on this earth to heal the intangible through music.

What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?

I have perseverance and impatient patience. I am patient enough to allow myself to enjoy the journey and process of musical growth but am impatient enough that I am always driving forward and looking for ways to achieve and set new goals.

What does music mean to you?

Music brings light to my life. I’m always listening to music, writing music, or singing. To me, music is an additional language I have the opportunity to use to say things that words cannot express.

What could you tell me about your new single, ”Love You Back”?

“Love You Back” exercises the idea that while it’s important to give the best of yourself to the world, it’s most important to take time to love yourself too. Healing ourselves and caring for ourselves not only helps to make our own lives better, but also helps us be a better friend, partner, daughter, and more to the people in our lives.

What is it about music that makes you feel passionate?

There’s endless exploration with music. There will never be a day when I understand every single aspect of music and run out of creativity or curiosity. Music allows me to constantly inquire and have a childlike imagination in my adult life.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m currently working on graduating from my Masters at Berklee College of Music in music business and then I’ll be looking for jobs in the industry while developing an EP! I’m so excited for this step forward in my career and look forward to sharing this new art with my community. Also, as your current Miss Music City, I’ll be competing for Miss Tennessee this summer and look forward to hopefully competing for Miss America after that!

What important message would you like to share with our readers?

Listen to yourself. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Life shouldn’t feel difficult and you shouldn’t feel like there’s constantly a problem to solve. Trust that you deserve to get exactly what you wish out of life. Now it’s up to you to figure out what that wish is and go after it. Too many people go through life unaware of what it is they really want and thus make decisions or allow in influences that don’t serve them. If you know what you want, you can make conscious choices every day getting you closer to that goal.

What do you feel is the best song that you have ever released and why?

It’s hard to pick a best song! Some I feel have incredible lyrics, others incredible vocal lines, and some I just know my audience loves. My favorite so far is “Meanwhile in My Head.” The storytelling lyrics and intricate vocal production I created are two things that make this song sound the way the situation felt. It’s hard to evoke the emotions you feel, but again, this is why I love music.
