What was the initial spark or moment that inspired “Under the Same Sky”?
The project started as an acoustic duo and later evolved into a full band at the end of 2024 to give voice and depth to the sonic soul of the songs. As we started rehearsing as a full band, we realised that the four of us have so many things in common and started developing a strong bond. We decided we would record a 10 track-album, discover our own sound, trust our instincts and embrace different influences.
What inspired the title “Under the Same Sky,” and how does it tie the album together?
The title has to do with stories and emotions we can all relate to – transformation, loss, hope, identity. Under the same sky is about experiences that may happen in different ways and moments, but that connect us as people.
Can you describe the creative process behind writing and producing “Under the Same Sky”?
Each track started on an acoustic guitar and was then developed with electric guitars, bass, drums, and percussion, creating a sound that blends acoustic roots with alternative rock and 90s alt rock vibes.
Were there any unexpected challenges you faced while recording “Under the Same Sky”?
The recording process was quite engaging, we had to make adjustments or shift away from the initial idea from time to time. On the other hand, it was fun to experiment with different techniques or effects.
What role did collaboration within the band play during the album’s creation?
We think that collaboration is one of the key elements that can lead to a successful or satisfying result. Pitching ideas for improvement, discussing goals and being honest with each other are some of the things that really make a difference in the long run.
Which song was the first to be written for the album, and how did it set the tone for the rest?
Atlas is one of the first songs written and it certainly represents our twofold search for catchy melodies and a raw and powerful sound. The track brings together a range of influences, from reggae to noise rock, reflecting each of our individual musical roots.
Did you experiment with any new instruments or production techniques on this record?
We decided to include percussions in the song Atlas so that the sound and the climax could be elevated. We also included noisy guitars that would translate the pain and nostalgia behind the lyrics.
What was the most rewarding part of making “Under the Same Sky” for the band?
Listening to the final result and the opportunity to showcase the album at our favourite local record store was pretty awesome. Besides, looking back on the entire process we can safely say that we learned a lot about ourselves as human beings and musicians.
How does this album represent the evolution of Naria’s sound compared to your previous work?
This album captures the natural evolution of our sound. We started as an acoustic duo, so our earlier work was more stripped-back and intimate. Over time, our love for 90s alt rock and pop rock pushed us toward a fuller, more energetic band sound. This record is the first time we’ve really embraced that side of us completely — bigger arrangements, more layered guitars, and a punchier rhythm section — while still keeping the melodic core and emotional storytelling that’s been there since the beginning.
What’s next for Naria after the release of Under the Same Sky?
Hopefully, we get to promote our album and play at local festivals. We love to share the gig with other artists and get to know them more.Besides, we can’t wait to work on new tracks and see how our sound evolves. This time we are going to experiment with different techniques to spark creativity and refine our songs.
