A conversation with Gianluca Todisco about “The Inner Circle”

Can you share a bit about your musical journey and what led you to produce electronic music?

I was born in Italy and since childhood I’ve felt that art, in all its forms, was my natural way of breathing. Music, dance, painting, writing, they were never about chasing fame but about expressing the truth of who I am. My journey then carried me across the ocean: first to New York, where I absorbed its raw intensity and urgency and later to Los Angeles, which opened me to light, contrasts and endless possibility. Those cities shaped me as much as my roots in Italy did, each leaving a different imprint on my sound. Over time, electronic music became the space where I could bring all these experiences together. It allows me to merge real, organic sounds with limitless sonic textures, turning emotions into landscapes. For me, producing electronic music is about shaping energy: capturing both fragility and strength, and transforming them into something universal.

How would you describe your sound and the artistic identity you’ve developed over the years?

I’d describe my sound as intimate yet expansive, a balance between deep emotional storytelling and rhythmic energy. Over the years, my artistic identity has become about honesty: transforming my own inner world into sound. Every track is a mirror of a moment in my life but also an invitation for others to see themselves reflected in it.

What were some of your biggest influences when creating your EP “The Inner Circle”?

The biggest influence was life itself, the spirituality, the people I met, the places I lived and the moments of silence in between. Living in Los Angeles left a huge imprint on me: the sunsets, the energy, the native culture. Musically, I was inspired by both electronic pioneers and world sounds but more than anything by my own need to heal and rediscover myself.

How has your approach to music production evolved since your first releases?

In the beginning, I was simply discovering my voice, experimenting, searching, and trying to understand who I was as an artist. Now, I allow myself to be guided by intuition. I record real sounds, experiment with textures and let imperfections become part of the music. My process has evolved into something more fluid, where the track reveals itself instead of me forcing it into shape.

What was the inspiration behind the single “The Inner Circle”?

The track was born from the idea of an inner sanctuary, that sacred space inside each of us where transformation happens. For me, “THE INNER CIRCLE” represents the moment you dare to step inside yourself and face both the darkness and the light. It’s a ritual in sound, an initiation into something deeper.

Can you walk us through your creative process when producing this track?

It started with a simple beat but I quickly felt it needed more life. So I layered in sounds I recorded outdoors, breathing textures and subtle details that made it feel organic. Vocals came later, almost like a chant, to create that sense of intimacy and mystery. My process is very instinctive: I follow what feels true and the track shapes itself around that.

Were there any specific challenges you faced while producing “The Inner Circle”?

The challenge was knowing when to stop. With music that feels so personal, it’s easy to keep adding, refining, tweaking. I had to trust the moment when the track already carried the energy I wanted, that balance between minimalism and intensity.

Are there any standout moments in the production of “The Inner Circle” that you’re especially proud of?

Yes, the moment I listened back after adding the final vocal layer. It felt like everything clicked, like the song had finally taken a breath on its own. That was when I knew it was alive, that it no longer belonged only to me but could connect with others.

How does the EP “The Inner Circle” differ from your previous work?

This EP is more personal, more vulnerable. My earlier work was me testing boundaries, finding my voice. With “THE INNER CIRCLE”, I feel I’ve opened a door into my true self. It’s not just about sound design or rhythm, it’s about letting my soul speak through music.

Did you experiment with any new techniques or sounds in this EP?

Absolutely. I recorded sounds outdoors, used my voice in unconventional ways, and allowed silence to play a role as much as rhythm. I also worked with textures that don’t usually appear in electronic tracks, blending them into a dance context but with an emotional core.

What can fans expect from you next, both in terms of singles and your overall musical direction?

Fans can expect more honesty, more exploration. I’m working on new material that continues this path, blending electronic energy with intimate storytelling. There will be singles that make you want to move, but also tracks that make you stop and reflect. My direction is towards music that’s not just heard but truly felt.
